Closed grounded sockets are preferred in more humid environments. The feature that distinguishes the grounded socket from the standard socket is that there is a ground terminal in addition to the phase and neutral. Grounded sockets have metal clamps that provide grounding. This grounding process prevents electrical leakage and prevents damage to electronic devices.
